why does Trond go along with whatever Jon says?

  1. Good question Kelly!
I think that Trond is a very introverted person and does not have enough self confidence to stand up to Jon. Also I think that Trond enjoys being a follower and is used to Jon being the leader so he does not see any need to change this pattern.

  2. Throughout the novel, I have percieved Trond as a carefree person, who is understanding to others. Trond doesn't usually take charge in anything, and that is why I think Jon is able to persuay Trond to go along with whatever he has to say. Trond isn't the kind of person who necessarily wants to be the leader of anything.

  3. Kelly,
I feel that the reason trond goes along with everything Jon does throughout the novel is because his personality is very much the following type. He doesn't really think for himself when he is with other people especially Jon, he just seems to go with the flow.

  4. I think that Trond could make his own decisions if it was necessary, but he finds it much easier to just go along with what someone else tells him to do. I agree with Alexa that he is the kind of person who doesn't want to be the leader of anything. I also feel that he may not have enough self confidence to stand up for something he wants if it's not what someone else wants too.

  5. Well Kelly, I beileve that Trond doesnt have that type of personality to tell Jon what he really feels. Trond isn't one to say much and we can all tell that Jon is the alpha dog in this friendship.

  6. Trond is a follower, and doesn't have any better ideas than what Jon suggests. Jon adds an element of adventure and risk to his life, so he trusts him to lead the way into an unforgettable time. If Trond tried to take the lead, he would most likely get shot down anyway, and he wouldn't want to take that risk.

  7. Great question Kelly! I think that he just has a shy and quiet personality and because Jon is the opposite from him (Outgoing and risky)I can imagine how hard it would be to stand up to Jon.

  8. Kell-
I believe the reason Trond doesn't stand up to Jon is because he lacks confidence and is afraid of what others might think of his opinions. He doesn't want to be embarrassed or seem weak. He also is afraid of looking afraid by not going along with what Jon wants to do.

  9. I think Tond's personality makes him a follower. He is very mellow and easy-going, and I don't think that he really cares what he does. The reason he does what Jon tells him to is because he doesn't care what he does.
